Which operating systems does the
Q2 work with?
Mac OSX 10.5 and 10.6
Windows 7,Vista , and XP (32 and
64 bit)
Mac OSX 10.5 and 10.6
Windows 7,
Will the Q2 connect to wi-fi
hotspots? What about secure networks?
No. Most
hotspots require a login webpage, and the radio cannot display this page. The
Q2 is compatible with WEP, WPA and WPA2. Q2 also works with mobile 3G wi-fi
access points.
How long does the battery last on
a single charge? How long does it take to charge the battery and how do I know
it is ready?
When
listening at a moderate level the battery will last up to 14 hours, and it
takes approximately 6 hours to charge the battery when it is fully depleted.
Why are some stations quieter
than others? Why do some have poor sound?
Each
station chooses the volume at which it broadcasts. This may mean that some
stations will appear louder than others when accessed from the Q2. The Q2
plays stations at the same quality as they are broadcast. With internet radio this
can vary widely, from quality far higher than DAB or FM to very low quality
compressed audio.
Is the Q2 stereo?
The
radio is able to receive both stereo and mono audio streams. If the built in
speaker is used, stereo audio is down-mixed to mono to play through the single
speaker. If the 3.5mm headphone socket is used, the Q2 works in full stereo.
What bit rates does the Radio
support?
Audio
playback supports sampling rates up to 48kHz and bitrates up to 330 kbps.
What is the audio specification
of the amplifier and speakers?
The Q2
uses a custom designed full range 2.4" 4 ohm drive unit and matched to the
140 Hz tuned port enclosure. Biquad DSP filters voice the sound. The amplifier
is a high efficiency Class AB BTL type, optimized for battery operation, giving
typically less than 0.1% THD under normal operating conditions. The use of a
Class AB rather than Class D type amplifier results in both lower noise and
distortion.
Can I add my own radio station URLs
to the Q2? How many radio stations are available to Q2 users?
Not yet.
There are plans to add this functionality to the Set-up Application in a future
free update. The numbers of stations and podcasts changes frequently, but more
than 15,000 are available.
How does the Q2’s motion detector
work?
The Q2
uses a 3 axis accelerometer to detect motion, the same type of motion detector
as used in popular games controllers.
How do you turn the Q2 off?
To put
the radio in standby, just tip it onto its front. To turn the radio off, use
the switch on the back of the unit or reduce volume to minimum and the Q2 will turn
off after a few minutes.
